This publication will assist structural engineers to develop as much confidence in the design of composite, steel-framed, multi-storey buildings as they are likely to have in more traditional reinforced concrete multi-storey buildings.
The publication consists primarily of a set of design calculations covering most aspects of the design and detailing of this type of building. The appendices provide necessary background to some of the unique aspects of composite design and to the interpretation of the Australian Composite Structures Code, AS 2327.1-2003. The design calculations have been organised into sections on input information, conceptual and preliminary design and detailed design to optimise the learning process.
